Neil Jones is a member of the Law Society specialist group The Professional Negligence Lawyers Association. This is a reflection of a number of cases we have brought for clients against other professionals including other solicitors. This does not make us popular with our colleagues but our view has always been to act firmly where clients have been badly served by other professionals.
We were the acting solicitors in the successful appeal to the House of Lords in 2005 of the leading case on conflict of interest of Hilton-v-Barker Booth and Eastwood. We were obliged to act free of charge for a time in that case and ultimately on a Conditional Fee Agreement ("no win no fee") simply because Legal Aid was withdrawn on the grounds that the Appellant was thought to have less than a 50% chance of winning the Appeal! It has become a leading authority on the law of conflict of interest as it affects solicitors and other professionals. The case may be found here or here.
